our delighted little princess rides in the horse drawn carriage

Last night our little family returned to home sweet home after spending a week in Indiana visiting family and being a part of my brother's wedding. Each day was jam packed with activities and festivities-we prepared for more relatives arriving for the wedding, set up for the rehearsal dinner, made food platters ahead of time for the onslaught of Marcello appetites, attended a personal shower for Brittany, practiced music, picked up tux's, visited family spread across town...needless to say, we did a lot! What we did not do a lot of was SLEEP. Michael and I know that God was so gracious to us because Emma and Elliot did so well being so far off of an even semi-normal routine. There were plenty of willing grandparents, great grandparents, aunts, uncles, great aunts, great uncles and second cousins to give a helping hand. It was a nice break to have such great entertainers for the kids, but it kept us busy still- trying to keep track of who Emma was with!
The wedding was beautiful. The ceremony took place on the veranda of a golf club, so the entire right side was opened to the golf course. Friday was a beautiful hot and sunny day, but better hot than rainy! And since their wedding didn't start until 7:30pm, it was starting to cool off a little bit (not for the guys wearing tux's though)! Brittany and her dad arrived in a horse drawn carriage that entered along the opened side of the veranda~ just like a fairy tale. Pictures followed before the sit down reception. Emma was overjoyed that the horse and carriage stuck around while pictures were going on outside. She and her cousins got a few rides around the golf course in the carriage~ that made her day!
All of my dad's brothers and sisters came, as well as my grandparents, my cousin and her boyfriend and uncles and aunts by marriage. Dad had a full house on Thursday through Saturday, but it was fun.
My grandma and grandpa on my mom's side came as well. It was the first time I had seen either of them for over 4 years, so it was also the first time that they met Emma and Elliot!
It was a busy week- not really qualifying as a vacation since we definitely left more exhausted than we arrived, but we enjoyed it and have lots of sweet memories from our time gathering for such a special occasion.
Enjoy!
