Within a few hours on Sunday morning, we had made arrangements for Michael to stay at a hotel right across the street from UVA and someone here to take care of Emma and Elliot while I took care of myself and Ethan. How comforting to know that God does take care of the intimate details of our lives. I have been regaining strength. Ethan on the other hand is not better yet. He has still been happy. Pray he feels better soon and that Emma and Elliot stay well.
Michael has an appointment at UVA at 9 this morning to determine whether he is ready for surgery tomorrow. Last month, tests revealed a hole in his j-pouch and what was supposed to be his final surgery on January 4th was cancelled. We have been praying that the hole healed up. If so, he will have surgery- his FINAL surgery- tomorrow.
Since October's surgery, Michael has not really been back to any sort of regular routine due to many challenges and complications. We have anticipated this last surgery. He is ready for it. Please pray with us this morning that the test will reveal that the hole is gone. Pray that our hearts will be encouraged regardless of the test results.
This song is a favorite of mine. I've been singing it in my mind all week...I love the words of the second verse especially.
THERE IS A HOPE

There is a hope that burns within my heart,
That gives me strength for ev'ry passing day;
a glimpse of glory now revealed in meager part,
Yet drives all doubt away:
I stand in Christ, with sins forgiv'n;
and Christ in me, the hope of heav'n!
My highest calling and my deepest joy,
to make His will my home.
There is a hope that lifts my weary head,
A consolation strong against despair,
That when the world has plunged me in its deepest pit,
I find the Savior there!
Through present sufferings, future's fear,
He whispers, "Courage!" in my ear.
For I am safe in everlasting arms,
And they will lead me home.
There is a hope that stands the test of time,
That lifts my eyes beyond the beckoning grave,
To see the matchless beauty of a day divine
When I behold His face!
When sufferings cease and sorrows die,
and every longing satisfied,
then joy unspeakable will flood my soul,
For I am truly home.
