California Day 1

Our departing flight left Newport News at 5:44am Tuesday morning, so it was an early day for all of us! Poor Michael had to bring us to the airport and then go off to class- Emma and I prayed for him to be able to stay awake :). First flight went to Atlanta- Emma did pretty good, but I got kinda uncomfortable since there wasn't an empty seat beside me- she slept for half the flight on my lap. Our layover in Atlanta was almost 3 hours. Lai gave me lots of ideas for our plane trip and they were very useful during this time! The flight from Atlanta to LA was about 4 1/2 hours, and thankfully this time there was an empty seat beside me! Emma slept most of the flight- I was very happy about that. The skies were very clear throughout the entire flight, so the views I saw as we flew above the country were amazing. We landed safetly in LA around 12:30pm (3:30pm our time). Brian, Lai, Rose Marie & Autumn all came to pick us up- it was so unreal that we were finally seeing eachother! Most of the rest of the day was spent just letting the girls play at the house...and Lai and I catching up and comparing baby bumps (we are due the exact same day!) It was so fun to watch all three girls play together- mostly with their baby dolls and strollers (and some occasional "that's mine" drama in between sharing times). Emma was especially fond of Rose Marie right away. Her eyes would just light up and she would giggle at all of her sillyness. The time change was a bit rough the first day, but we adjusted pretty quickly. Lai had been a very busy girl planning LOTS of fun surprises for us all, so we made sure to get our rest the first night because we would need it...
