Lai had so many surprises waiting for us. One of them was a taking a trip with the girls to Aroyo Grande, which is about 3 hours northwest of Santa Clarita. Aroyo Grande is a quaint little town with lots of pastry & antique shops and boutiques. It also has the ONLY Susan Branch store in the country! (scrapbookers out there might be familiar with her pretty stickers, books etc.). Lai had been several times before and knew it would be a special treat for me to see too. So the night before our surprise trip, Lai gave me a Susan Branch book to tell me where it was we were going! The drive there was just beautiful since the road trailed right along side of the Pacific coast and mountains. The girls really enjoyed getting out of the van, walking around and getting some yummy treats. We spent a couple hours in the town, enjoyed home made ice cream and pastries, took lots of pictures... I got a few small things from the Susan Branch store- there were so many neat things to look at. Emma's baby book was the "Baby Love" from Susan Branch, and I had wanted to get the same one for Elliot. They had just one left in the store! After we finished walking around, we headed about 15 miles further north to Apple Farm Inn- where Lai had made reservations for us to stay for the night! I'll have to do another post for that entirely...soon to come!
