Michael and I celebrate our 6th anniversary at the end of this month! Every year we have been able to enjoy a short getaway trip.
Year One: Virginia Beach, VA (this was a two-in-one trip: one for anniversary/ two for checking out the possibility of moving here for Michael to attend CBTS). We stayed at the Courtyard Marriott on the Boardwalk & with Kris & Nate Birkholz. I remember that we took Virginia Beach Blvd. all the way to Princess Anne Rd. from the boardwalk instead of 264. Looking back we laugh at that now.
Year Two: Charleston, SC We stayed at the beautiful Middleton Plantation Inn. Toured the amazing old gardens and historic houses. Ate delicious food, shopped, walked historic downtown Charleston... I think this has been my favorite anniversary celebration so far- maybe some of that has to do with us honeymooning in Charleston (Isle of Palms)- so many precious and fun memories!
Year Three: Knotts Island & OBX, NC We stayed at a relaxing B&B that we discoverd while picnicing at an orchard on the bay a few months earlier. I was a couple months pregnant with Emma and something I distinctly remember is that we went out and bought the works to make an awesome grilled steak dinner---it sounded so yummy and we were soo hungry. But when we finally sat down to eat, I got that yucky prego feeling and even the thought of the food was almost enough to send me over the edge. We took the ferry from Knotts Island to the OBX. It was beautiful and we loved touring Kitty Hawk.
Year Four: Chapel Hill, NC. We attended a very late UNC game on the way back home from spending Christmas with Michael's family in SC. Emma(about 6 months old) was with us for that one (Michael gave me the awesomest-wife-ever award for that celebration!) Before the game we walked around campus, ate at Qdobas & did a little Tar Heel shopping. It was a C O L D night, but we had soo much fun. And every one loved seeing our little tar heel fan decked out in her cheerleading outfit.
Year Five: Ashville, NC- We spent our time touring downtown Ashville and the jaw-dropping Biltmore Estate, eating fabulous food at Deer Park Inn (at the Biltmore) and searching for a B & B Works in the mall to get some air freshener to cure the unpleasant odor I detected in our hotel room (my sense of smell was very fragile the first trimester I was prego with Elliot!)
This Year: A T L A N T A !
We are so excited! Michael has been to Atlanta many times and talked about it- making me feel like I've been left out on all that it has to offer there! We will have one night and two days (without kiddos) to fill our time and I'm wondering if any of YOU have any suggestions of places that are interesting, restaurants that are especially special and any "must-do's or have's or see's". We would like to find a hotel right downtown within walking distance of shopping, cafes, coffee shops that way we don't spend all of our time driving and looking for parking spots. The only thing we've planned to do is go to the COKE factory. Besides that, we really need some input! We just can't waste our time figuring out where everything is and wait to see what there is to do until we get there! (and this year I won't have any of those lovely side effects to combat that your first trimester pregnancy brings on)
Anxious to hear from you...

No ideas for you in Atlanta, but I hope you have a great time. How great that you have taken the opportunity to get away each year!
hey you! So happy for you! The only thing I know about Atlanta is the Market. . .and sadly, I think you have to have a business pass to get in. . .
But, have a great time!
Oh, and we always find the best deals on Priceline for hotles. . .our latest find was a hotel in downtown Portland. The regular price was $199 per night and we got it for $55! yay!
Hey!!
When is your anniversary?? Forgive me if you said, but I thought you said at the end of the month. Ours is December 29th. We will be celebrating our 8th anniversary. Where has the time gone?????
