yippy skippy...
So a friend informed me that Kmart was doubling coupons up to $2 until today, so I sorted through my stacks of coupons yet again to see what grand savings I could come up with. Since we don't really need all of these items right now (except for the diapers. Elliot had one left from the lot of the last great deal I snatched a while ago), I was looking for items that would total to >$1 or free.
Let me just say that I had a very interesting cashier. She was complex and made things pretty confusing that should've been clear and simple. When she saw all my coupons out, she felt the need to inform me:
"You know that the limit is 25 coupons per customer. . . You can't use all 25 coupons at once."
? ! (perplexed expression from the shopper-lady(me) who has done all of her research dutifully before arriving to the store)
Me: "Well, this is why I called in advance to figure out what the exact stipulations were. The employee I spoke with said that I could use up to 25 coupons."
Cashier: "Yeah...but you can't use 26 coupons. "
?!? (another perplexed expression from me- who just realized that this conversation was a waste of words and brain power...)
I spent approximately 45 minutes doing my transaction. Many other customers filed behind me, waited for a while, then gave up and went to another cash register. Eventually my cashier just turned off her register light. (All you who are reading this out there that don't do coupons are thinking: "see this is exactly the reason why I don't do this." Note: this is not a regular occurence when I attempt to get coupon deals) And I was kinda frustrated with her, but by george, I spent a couple hours planning and then shopping and I wasn't just going to walk out the store empty handed!
Many moons later, I got my stuff. Minus the receipt~ it wouldn't print. So I waited for 15 more minutes while "it was being printed off the back and she'll be right up to give it to you". I left.
The total spending for everything minus the diapers came to about $15. The total should've been $5, but she messed up one of the deals I had. She assured me that I'd be getting a $10 coupon off my next purchase instead. Yeah, We'll see 'bout that.
The diapers I got for about $6.99 each which added up to a lot since I got 8 pkgs., but is still a good deal for diapers.

good for you. I think I might have met your cashier before. (Just kidding) But I have had several experiences JUST. LIKE. THAT. I chalk it up to the state we live in:)
Good job on your savings! I TOTALLY feel your pain on the cashier/coupon issue!!! And it is not just in your state, because we have our own little league of them down here too! It drives me crazy. A few weeks ago, it took me probably 20 minutes at a register at Walmart. The cashier started calling the manager over there for EVERY coupon, she kept saying she wasn't sure, and she didn't want to make a mistake, and she didn't usually work the register, etc. People from other registers started looking at me, and the people in line behind me were getting annoyed. The cashiers treat you like you are a criminal, like you are robbing them!!!! I feel bad for getting upset with them, and I try to stay under control to keep a good testimony, but boy, it is hard! I am glad to hear I am not the only one who has these difficulties! :)
