UPDATE AS OF 1:45PM, FRIDAY, Oct. 9th:
Michael has been prepped for the procedure. A catheter will be inserted and medication injected through it to hopefully dissolve the blood clot in his right leg. We were able to get our questions answered- the nurses and Dr. McBee were very informative and patient with our inquisitive minds. The purpose in doing this procedure rather than allowing the blood thinner to "do the trick" has to do with his age and trying to preserve the function of the valves in his veins. There is a risk that this procedure could actually damage the valves, so pray specifically that that won't happen. Dr. McBee informed us also of the 2nd ultrasound results: there is a clot in the left leg as well as an infection. He is not doing the catheter procedure on the left leg because he thinks that it can be treated with antibiotics (due to it being a different type of clot related to the infection; we don't know what the infection is from; and it's kinda strange that the pain started in both legs at the same time!)The procedure will be atleast an hour once they have inserted the catheter

UPDATE AS OF 11AM, FRIDAY, OCT. 9:Michael is scheduled to have the procedure mentioned below (catheter to dissolve clot) done between noon and 1pm today. Dr. McBee has been in the OR all morning so we have not had the opportunity to get our questions answered yet. Michael just got back from having a 2nd ultrasound- this time for his left leg. We have not heard results yet on that. The old deaf man that neighbors us here in the hospital has high hopes of getting out of here soon...he says he is getting married tomorrow.
