Birthday at the Beach

Today was my 27th birthday- and it was the warmest day so far this season! Michael took most of the day off so that we could go to the beach. We picked up a pizza and ate while sitting close to the water. Emma tried organic applesauce for the first time and gobbled it up!
It was sunny, so I brought Emma a hat to wear- it kept getting blown off by the wind. Next time I'll bring one with ties. Aside from the wind blowing sand in our faces, it was absolutely beautiful today.
Emma liked watching the waves come in, but seemed more intrigued with the sound of the water. Michael helped her walk on the sand barefoot. Even though it was a warm day, the water and wet sand is still pretty cold. It was so cute to watch her walking with Michael. She lifted each leg up so high- probably because the sand was cold.
After our walk, we got an ice cream cone- a birthday would be incomplete without it.
What a fun time we had today-
I think of how much my life has changed over this past year. So many great joys, and some intense heartaches. But God remains the same. Yesterday, today & forever- He is still faithful to His Word. Recently the Lord brought to mind the words of an old hymn we used to sing when I was little:
What though the way be lonely,
And though the shadows fall-
I know wherever He leads me,
My Father planned it all.
I sing through the shade and the sunshine,
I'll trust Him whatever befall
I'll sing for I cannot be silent,
My Father planned it all.

What hope and assurance we have in knowing Christ!

I'm glad you had such a nice birthday Nina! The weather was SO beautiful yesterday. I am anxious to get out to the beach more this year as the weather keeps warming up. I know Silas will enjoy it way more now than he did last summer. We went to the park on Tuesday, but I didn't get any pictures! I really need to get it together and bring my camera places so I can blog about our fun activities. Praise the Lord for his faithfulness. I am praying for you and your family. I hope we get a chance to see you all again soon. Maybe we can get together for a playdate sometime!
Have a wonderful weekend.

Glad to hear your birthday was special. I remember that song from my growing up days too -- it was good to be reminded of those truths in song.

Emma has changed so much since we saw y'all in September (of course she has, but you know what I mean). Still oh so cute.
