Michael took the day off today and we had a blast together! I've been taking long walks with Emma in the evenings to try to help get things going with my labor...it has been soooo hot here that even by 7:30pm when we've gone out, we sweat like crazy! So today we decided to take a break from the heat and go to Chuckie Cheese's and then to the mall for our walk. Emma was excited about "pizza and chucacacacheese" and loved that Daddy was there to play with her. After lunch, we did a little shopping and a lot of walking, and got some ice cream for Emma.
Emma figured out how to put the "money" in the slots by herself.
Emma's latest fascination is buckles, buckles, buckles. We were out to eat yesterday afternoon to celebrate an early Father's Day and Emma saw all the highchairs lined up with buckles- she went crazy and buckled each and every one. I'm sure she would have skipped eating entirely and been satisfied just buckling. Here she is standing on the ride playing with the buckle instead of actually riding.
Riding Clifford the big red "goddie".

Well, Emma has started going peepee on the big potty! I wasn't planning to begin potty training her until after Elliot arrived, but she seemed interested and Michael somehow managed to get her to go on the potty. I tried several times and she would sit there and say "psssssss" then "all done" and want to flush the empty toilet. Something clicked a few weeks ago though and now she knows that if she goes in the potty that she gets CANDY. She isn't consistent yet and I'm not ready to move on to big girl panties....I think that she decides when she wants to go potty when she wants to have some candy. Our little baby is growin' up.
We are so ready to meet our little guy (maybe me more than Michael since being pregnant is getting pretty tiring). I had consistent contractions 5-15 minutes apart for almost 3 hours on Saturday night, but then they stopped. We thought maybe it was time, but obviously not yet! Since I was induced with Emma (and had a unpleasant labor experience as a result), I am not sure what to expect this being the first time to enter labor "on my own". I'm just praying that I'll know when it's the real thing- and in time to get to the hospital (since it's a good hour drive, depending on traffic).
Hopefully the next post will be announcing Elliot's birth!
