Big Brother

Look at this happy kid! And what a royal mess he makes when left to eat on his own (our dog, Jack, situates himself directly under the highchair when Elliot is in residency there)!! We feel blessed that God is allowing our family to grow AGAIN! We understand that God has complete control over all things~ even things that we think WE control! Emma and Elliot were "planned", but this baby comes more as a surprise child. There are many, many reasons why we can rejoice about this, even though it does not necessarily fit in with "our plans". My brother is getting married in May and I was hoping to be in great shape by then. Not happening, my friend. I'll be 6 months along! My friend recently reminded me that we as mommies must die to self everyday. This is not a complaint, but rather a reminder of how we should live as obedient children of Christ. So often I want to be selfish and pursue my own interests and I buck against submitting to Christ. As we strive daily to discipline Emma in a loving, Christlike manner, I am drawn a clearer picture of how our heavenly Father loves and forgives us when we turn from him. Talk about rebuking!
I've had several friends tell me that I will have no more time to myself with three. I'm not quite sure to make of this news, but I'm hoping it's not entirely true otherwise I'll scare Michael away for sure!
Although we don't know whether this baby is a little boy or girl, both Emma and Elliot were summer babies and we will be able to get use out of their old clothes! We will need more bibs if it is a boy though. Elliot is such a messy eater and goes through many bibs a day.
Emma seems excited about the news- we aren't too sure if she understands all the way yet. It has been so sweet to hear her praying for baby who is "growing in mommy's tummy!". We told her the news last Saturday. Upon picking her up from church nursery on Sunday morning, the nursery worker asked me if I was pregnant and then told me Emma told her I had a baby growing in my tummy. The same thing happened that evening when we had our friend Sue watch the kids while we worked with the youth group. So the secret is out!
Elliot will be a big brother for the first time! Baby and him will be about 14 months apart!

I have also been convicted about the need to die to self daily or moment by moment for that matter. And also about disciplining in a Christlike manner -- I am so there too in desiring that and for me seeing it so lacking in my life. Thanks for sharing that. It was an encouragement to me to hear it in your words.

Congratulations on your gift from God to arrive this summer. How are you feeling, Nina? I know you have to be tired but what about morning/all day sickness?
