Thank you, friends, for praying for Michael today.
His colonoscopy was a successful yet unpleasant experience- mostly because he was awake through the whole ordeal. The first colonoscopy he had performed two years ago was done at another office and he was put all the way under for it. Today he was only given something to make him drowsy and therefore was in quite a bit of pain as he could feel them probing in already irritated areas affected by the disease.
The colonoscopy did not reveal anything alarming, which we are truly thankful for. Basically there is a lot of inflamation in his intestines and other digestive organs, a couple of ulcers and some other issues that I'll spare you of out of decency and respect for Michael.
The doctor thinks that Michael has Crohn's Colitis- which we had also heard from his former dr. Don't ask me what the difference is, because I really don't know- yet! He was also very confident that the medications that Michael has started this past week will be successful in treating his Crohn's and putting it in remission. That was good to hear!
Michael slept most of the day, but when he woke up had his appetite back- another answer to prayer! He is doing much better now than he was yesterday or this morning. Things can only get better from here on out for him! Doctor said to give it a week to 10 days before the meds really start to settle and balance out his system, but each day should get better.
We appreciate the notes and calls and most of all your prayers.

I honestly cannot imagine what a difficult time these couple of years have been for Michael. And for you too -- it's so hard to see someone suffer and not be able to make it better. He is so blessed to have you as his wife through all this. I am very glad to hear that the doctors feel they know what medical path to go down for this right now.
Oh and great picture of you two at the Valentine's Day Banquet.
oh Nina, I am so thankful! That is such an answer to prayer. I felt like jumping in the car and coming to see you yesterday when I saw your status about Jack and your table. I thought, "poor Nina, what a day with all that went on with Michael and now she has to deal with the dog!"
{I do hope you weren't too harsh on naughty Jack:) You knew I was going to say something like that, didn't you!}
I am just so glad to hear the good news and that is so wonderful that the medicines seem to be taking effect! Praise God!
what michael has been through makes pregnancy/childbirth almost look easy. (since at least we have an end in sight!) praying that he will have relief from his pain and that the dr's would have wisdom.
Michael and Nina,
I am so sorry you have to go through this painful disease. You are in my prayers. Do the doctor's know how you get this disease? I mean where does it come from?
love you so much,
Aunt Deb
