Pa Joe Weatherman was right....

Pa Joe called us on Thursday night...he was very excited to let us know that a good SNOWstorm system was headed our way. He's a weatherman in the Air National Guard and enjoys such things. I remember many strong thunderstorms & even a tornado that came through Indiana while I was in high school and dad would always be, yup~ standing outside watching while the rest of the family was huddled in a closet in the basement. Funny, because recently I read that more men are killed by lightning than women. And the study concluded it was just because men are more stupid than women. I digress...Pa Joe was right about the snow, much to the delight of Emma and Elliot!!
Since we don't get snow here often, we had to be kinda creative with our snow gear. We looked like a bunch of rednecks, but it worked.
Something tells us that Emma has a little northern blood running through her...she is usually very particular about things when she is uncomfortable, cold, hot, itchy, sweaty...but she was doing face plants- on purpose- into the snow. She had snow packed into her mittens and all over her face, and still didn't want to come inside.
This was Elliot's first experience playing in the snow. He lasted all of 20 minutes. His favorite thing was sitting on the hood of the van and knocking the snow off. Walking was somewhat difficult for him, due to the amount of snow and the number of pants that mommy layered on him.
our little snow angel
aaaaannnnd....these are the "snow" toys we came up with. No sleds. No shovels. The snow isn't packing snow, so we couldn't build a snowman or make snowballs.

When we got inside {yay for a warm cozy house}, Emma had a "tea party"- complete with homemade hot cocoa and cinnamon rolls.

[and did I mention it's still snowing?!]
