So I arrive home and Dad is pointing out some of the flowers he has planted in the garden. We go inside, I ask about Tim's whereabouts {which could be anywhere: his most recent excursion was Hawaii for a few weeks}. "Oh, you didn't see what Tim has built outside?!?" Dad asked...we went out back and then I saw it:
Going up to visit Tim. I was feeling adventurous. And a little frightened.
Made it to the first level! There are 5+ levels to this treehouse and there are no enclosed walls.
This was taken right after Tim explained to me how NOTHING is nailed or screwed into the tree itself. He constructed everything out of natural materials and wedged it in place so that it could grow with the tree.
Tim, walking on a couple of levels higher than me. I wasn't feeling THAT adventurous to join him way up there. I do have three children to raise.
You see the black cloth behind me? That's where Tim sleeps. It's a hammock, hanging oh-about 40 feet up in the air, above slats of tree branches that have been wedged into place. I would not recommend this type of arrangement for sleep walkers.
Tim has amazing and unique interests and skills. This isn't the first treehouse he has built. Years ago, he lived in Colorado "off the land" and told us that he was living in a treehouse. That made me concerned, for a few reasons...but when I saw this, I could totally picture him actually living in a treehouse.
good morning tim!
He has designed a pulley system, a rain water-collection system, and even has a source of electricity up there.
As I listened to Tim share some of his adventures and creations, I was fascinated. If I lived closer, I told him that I would start a blog just about him. Have you ever seen the old movie "Swiss Family Robinson"?! That is what the back yard is starting to look like...

the treehouse
This tree was climbed on by all the Marcello kids, although certain trees in the yard were given claim by either "the girls" or "the boys". We tried our best to convince Mom & Dad to put a zip line across the yard between the two trees, to no avail. But we had many memories from those trees...oh the days of being a tomboy!

Oh my word!! I'm in awe! And, yes, all I could think about is Swiss Family Robinson! :) Perhaps he needs to make some coconut bombs to ward off predators. :)
