California Day 2

On Wednesday, Lai planned for us to go to Oxnard Beach- it is about 45 minutes west of Santa Clarita and where the seminary has their annual picnic. Our plan was to leave the house by 10. We pulled out at noon- things take a little longer with three little girls (so much has changed since "those days")! It was a beautiful drive there- we passed orchard after orchard and many fruit stands. Oranges, lemons, strawberries - mmmm...The oranges were so delicious I wish I could have packed a suitcase full of them to bring home! Once we got to the park, we had a picnic lunch and the girls GREATLY enjoyed running around in the big open grassy field with no bounderies. After lunch we walked through the park to the beach and took some pictures. It was different than the beach here- the waves were much bigger- there were a lot of palm trees- and there were mountains lining the coast. We really got our workout walking in the sand (especially Lai since she brought Autumn in the stroller!). A few hours after getting there, we packed back into the van and headed back home for the girls to nap before our next adventure. That night we all went out to eat at a very yummy restaurant called "The Soup Plantation". Oh, I wish that they had this restaurant here in VA Beach- it is a buffet of homemade soups, fresh salads, fruits, breads & muffins, pizzas, baked potatoes, and of course ICE CREAM. Brian was able to go with us- which made our time much more relaxing having an extra hand with helping the girls.

Looks like such a fun time, Nina! I'm amazed how brave you are to fly with a busy toddler - I hope i can be like you someday. :) Hope your pregnancy is still going well - only a few more weeks!!
